Live Illustration

Live Illustrations are a fun and interactive activity for event guests. Within a matter of minutes, I create quick digital ‘tooned illustrations of your guests that can be instantaneously shared with friends and family.

I can live illustrate for almost any type of event including, but not limited to, weddings, birthdays, store openings, galas, corporate functions and holiday parties. Live illustrations are meant to capture what a person is wearing, not their facial features or other recognizable details, so these are especially great for events where guests are encouraged to dress to impress.

Live Illustrations take about 5 minutes per person depending on the complexity of their outfit. You provide the workspace, I’ll bring the fun!

Live Illustrations start at $150/hour. I have a minimum booking time of two hours and a maximum booking time of four consecutive hours. Transportation and lodging (if necessary) costs apply for event locations outside New York City.

Most likely! I try not limit myself to the “type” of events that I do.

Do you travel?

Yes. Depending on the location of your event and duration of the stay, travel fees will apply (including but not limited to train/flight costs, lodging, and travel time) and are requested as part of the down payment.

How do the guests receive their illustration?

Guests will receive their illustration by email upon completion (or can be emailed to the event organizer if that is preferred). The illustration background can be customized and/or feature a logo if desired, which can be created for an additional charge. Standard file delivery is an 8x10 350 DPI .png.

How far in advance do I have to book?

If I am available and you want me to illustrate your event next weekend, I can probably do it! However, I do not book more than three months in advance. If your event is over three months away, please still feel free to reach out to me. I can put a placeholder on the date and follow up again with you when we are three months out.

Do you require a down payment?

Yes, I require $150 (equal to one hour of illustration) and additional travel/lodging fees up front to secure the date once you’ve requested the event, and the remaining balance is due at the time of the event.

Down payment can be made via Venmo or PayPal, and balance can be paid via Venmo, PayPal, cashier’s or bank check. I do not accept payment via personal check, cash, credit or debit card. *Please do not make a down payment prior to requesting the event.*

  • Illustration cancelled for New York City-based events prior to (2) days of the event will receive a full refund of your down payment.

  • Illustration cancelled for events outside of New York City prior to (2) weeks of the event will receive a minimum of $150 refund. Travel/lodging cancellation fees may not be reimbursed.

What kind of workspace do you need?

A standard height table (at least 3 ft. long, if possible), chair and good lighting. It is important that the table/chair are not high (like a bar table/stool) because not being able to have my feet on the ground makes illustrating difficult. I will also need to be in close proximity to an outlet to keep my tablet charged, and will require an internet connection to be able to share illustrations with guests.

Signage is great for informing guests of what I am doing. Since every event is unique, I do not provide custom signage.

Can I hire you to come to my house and live illustrate my family + friends?

I do not do in-home illustrations. I reserve this service for events only as I require a minimum booking of 2 hours for these. Since live illustration involves travel and special scheduling, I charge significantly more for it (which is why I reserve it for events!).

Note: I will not live illustrate based on an existing photo on someone’s phone, all illustration must be created in the moment. This service is reserved for people only, not for pets or inanimate objects.
